After deciding to split the content of this page into three categories (personal experience, info taken directly from AMC, and info from the books used in class), I settled upon a format of four frames. One frame for each of the three sources of info and a fourth for pictures. Afterall, I was tired of the three framed format that I had used in my last two web projects.
I divided the four frames into a matrix of 2 rows by 2 columns. Soon after this decision, when I was still thinking about where to locate each one of the 4 areas of content, I realized that the design looked a lot like Dr. Ulmer¹s diagram of the Popcycle. So I said ³Hey, why not pay homage to Dr. Ulmer¹s theory by literalizing it in my design.²
Thus, the top left-hand corner, Family, contains text that I have written and which reveal the more personal side of experience. The bottom left-hand corner, Official History, contains the official history of the AMC theatres as taken directly from their web site. The bottom right-hand corner, Expert Knowledge, contains information taken directly from the readings and email discussions for this class. And finally, the top right-hand corner, Entertainment, is used to display all the images that relate to this site. Yeah, I know that the whole entertainment/images idea is kind of a stretch considering that most of the images are of garbage, popcorn, and other topics considered boring. But the Popcycle was designed as an illustration of a theory and was never intended to be used literally as a design principle. So what are you going to do?
